Retiring to honor magistrate

A retirement reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at Morris County Courthouse in Council Grove will honor Magistrate Margaret White, who will leave office Jan. 1.

White, who serves in the 8th Judicial District, including Marion County, has been a magistrate since 2013. She received a law degree in 1992 after operating a landscape nursery and greenhouse for several years following her graduation from college with an agriculture degree in 1979.

A widow, she has two married sons and six grandchildren in the Kansas City area.

She will continue as municipal judge for Council Grove.
