REUNIONS: Schubert

Descendants of Albert and Auguste (Bentz) Schubert gathered in Ramona the weekend of July 26-27 for the annual family reunion.  The highlight of the celebration was the 90th birthday of Henry Schubert’s wife, Gertrude (Hicks) Schubert.

The Schuberts had nine children. Two sisters are still living — Anna Schimming of Herington and Frieda Struebing of Wichita — and both attended the family reunion luncheon.

The oldest Schubert child was Clara, who married John Lorei. All of Clara and John’s children were at the reunion, with their spouses:  John and Kathy Lorei of Highland, Calif., Glenn and Lois Lorei of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Lois’ mother, Laura Ollek of McPherson, and Georgia (Lorei) and Ed Lehman of Lawrence.

Albert Schubert, Jr.  was the oldest son. Al and Hazel’s (both deceased) daughter, Phyllis Marsh and her husband, Dale, from Great Bend attended, along with their daughter, Ginger Armbrust and her daughter, Iliana, from Salina.

Henry Schubert (deceased) married Gertrude Hicks, and Gertie was at the reunion with their sons, Gary and Carol Schubert of Greeley, Colo., and Keith and Vicki Schubert of Aurora, Colo. Grandchildren attending were: Kristina Schubert, Tara Schubert with her daughter, Tasia, and Kim (Schubert) and Adam Glueckert, with their children Logan, Kaela, and Jenna.  For the past two reunions, the Glueckerts have arrived at the reunion with the youngest newborn in the family. Jenna was born in April.

Martha Schubert and Laurel Ehrhardt (both deceased) had two daughters: Pat Wick and Jessica Gilbert.  Jess and Pat are the organizers for the annual Schubert reunion.  Pat attended with Tim Steinborn, and her daughter, Jana Wick and grandson, Dagfinnr Chang-Wick of Angwin, Calif.

Frieda (Schubert) and Clarence (deceased) Struebing had one of their two children attending the reunion.  Frieda was there with her daughter, Becky, and Becky’s husband Ken Peoples of Haysville.  Grandchildren attending were: Austin and Jessica Peoples and their son, Aidan from Wichita, and Sean Peoples, Haysville.

Attending from the union of Arthur and Anne Schubert (both deceased) were: Becky (Schubert) and Greg Briggs of Independence, M..
