Robert Bevan

Longtime Lost Springs postmaster Robert Burl Bevan, 87, died July 3 at Herington Municipal Hospital. He was postmaster for 38 years before retiring in 1989.

Born Jan. 24, 1926, in Lost Springs to Burl Franklin and Inez Myrtle (McMillen) Bevan, he was a lifelong resident of Lost Springs

He was a corporal in the Mariness in the Pacific during World War II. He married Betty Anne Wheat on July 28, 1963, in Alexander. He was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Pamela Sue Bevan of Hutchinson; a son, Todd Allen Bevan of Bend, Ore.; three sisters, Ardis Belle Sutton of Salina, and Mary Ann Walter and Alma Elaine Wyatt, both of Hillsboro; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Franklin Bevan.

Services were July 8 at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, with pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Burial with military honors was in Lost Springs Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Hebron Lutheran Church.
