Roger Jackson

Roger W. Jackson, 61, Topeka, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Midland Hospice House.

Roger was born Dec. 23, 1951, in Marion, Kan., the son of Max Sr. and Patricia (Potter) Jackson. He graduated from Marion High School in 1970 and Kansas State University in 1976 with degrees in business and finance.

He worked as a loan officer for American Savings from 1977-78, a sales agent for Executive Fund Life Insurance from 1978-79, an adjuster for Farmers Insurance Group from 1979-1987, and an agent for Farmers Insurance Group from 1987 until he retired in March 2013.

He was an active member of Faith Community Church and Kaw Valley Cat Backers. Roger was an avid K-State fan and never missed a football or basketball game. Additionally, Roger was an expert snow skier and he enjoyed playing golf and coaching his children’s sports teams. The relationships Roger developed with family and friends were always his most prized possessions.

Roger married Sandy Anderson on Jan. 3, 1976, in Marion. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Stacy (Jon) Ehlers, Jefferson City, Mo.; son, Devin Jackson, Houston, Texas; mother, Patricia Jackson, Yuba City, Calif.; brothers, Dr. Max Jackson Jr., Reno, Nev., and George Jackson, Boise, Idaho; and sister, Helen Jackson-Nicholson, Yuba City, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Guy and Martha Jackson and George “Percy” and Helen Potter.

Memorial services were Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Topeka, with a luncheon afterward in the fellowship hall. Private family inurnment was to be at a later date. The family received friends on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, Topeka.
