Roy Keller

Funeral services for Robert “Roy” Keller, 91, who died Saturday, will be 1 p.m. Friday at The Benton Church, 14300 SW 20th St., Benton.

Roy went home to his Lord and savior Jesus and also to his precious and very missed wife of 69 years, Jean Elizabeth Keller, surrounded by loved ones.

He will be remembered and missed by so many. He never knew a stranger, and wanted to share about his savior with anyone who would listen.

He was born and raised on a farm in northern Pratt County in a home of five brothers and five sisters. His parents were Emmett Arthur Keller, and Verli Faye (Leatherman) Keller.

He served in the U.S. Army for one year and nine months and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.

He married the love of his life, Jean Elizabeth Moore Keller Sept. 3, 1950.

After serving his country, he moved to Wichita and worked at the Coleman Company as a spray painter, and later as a lead man of the department.

In his early 30s, Roy felt the call to ministry and soon began preparation by taking classes at Friend’s University and correspondence courses through the Free Methodist Church. Roy was ordained in 1967 and soon began what would be his life career as a pastor in the Free Methodist Church.

He served as Pastor in Kingman, Minneapolis, Wichita and Topeka with the F.M. Conference.

After retirement, Roy was also a well-loved calling pastor for the Parkview M.B. Church in Hillsboro.

As a farm boy, he loved to garden, his garden is already tilled, and has holes dug for the tomatoes, potatoes, and onions.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, six brothers and sisters; granddaughter Brenda; and son-in-law Randy Claassen.

He leaves behind his children, Robert (and wife, Tracy); Janice (and husband, Randy) and Beverly (and husband, Stephen); four siblings; 17 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.

“May we be an unbroken family around God’s throne,” Emmett Keller.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, 206 E. Central Avenue, El Dorado, Kansas.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Friday at The Benton Church, 14300 SW 20th St., Benton, Kansas, with interment to follow at Towanda Cemetery, Towanda.
