Ruth Chance

Ruth Chance, 87, of Stuart, Iowa, died Dec. 28, 2008, at Stuart Community Care Center.

Born March 6, 1921, in Cedar Point, she was the daughter of Diedrick H. and Susan (Conyers) Ubben.

She graduated from Peabody High School in 1939.

She married Leo Chance in August 1939. He died in September 1975.

In April 1982, she married Charles “Knobbs” Couch. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded by a daughter, Susan McGregor, three brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Phillip Chance of Menlo, Iowa, Dick Chance of Matherville, Ill., Jerry Chance of Des Moines, Iowa, and Larry Chance of Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Pat Ream of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Georgia Lalouette of Florence and Rena Topham of Fredonia; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held.

A memorial has been established with Stuart Rescue Unit.
