Marion Junior Warriors Kids Club wrestler Trevor Schafers has won first place at six tournaments this season — Marion, Herington, Abilene, Manhattan, Newton, and Minneapolis.

He also placed second at Hillsboro and third at Emporia and has recorded 11 pins this season.

Trevor will wrestle in the 6 and younger state tournament Sunday in Salina.

The 6-year-old is in his second year wrestling with the club.

Although he wrestles in the 68 to 70-pound weight class, he has competed with heavyweight wrestlers, up to 12 pounds heavier.

He is coached by Chuck McLinden, Darryl Shults, Travis Schafers, and Chad Gormley.

He is the son of Kelley and Travis Schafers, and grandson of Mary Ann and Keith Conyers and Steve and Barb Hett.
