Semiquincentennial exhibit coming
Moments That Made US, a new exhibition commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence, will go on display Tuesday through the end of the year at Hillsboro Museums Visitor Center.
The multimedia exhibit explores how generations of Americans, from colonial times to recent years, have given meaning to ideals set out in the Declaration of Independence.
Adapted from an acclaimed exhibition created by History Colorado, it is offered in a format that allows host venues to customize it to connect local history to the nation’s story.
“Moments That Made US will bless the community and remind visitors that each generation in all parts of the nation faced consequential moments,” Hillsboro Museums assistant director Noah Bartel wrote in announcing the exhibit.
Bartel began the effort to bring the exhibit, presented locally in partnership with Central National Bank, to Hillsboro.
“I hope that it will inspire us,” Bartel said, “to see that, like those who came before us, we have the opportunity to take an active role in our pursuit of a more perfect union.”
