Senior center in peril
To the editor:
Help! Did you know the Marion Senior Center is in need? It is slowly depleting what financial resources is has to maintain the building and pay for monthly utilities.
The senior center has been open since 1980 and has served meals Monday through Friday to seniors in the community. The senior center is essential in providing many seniors one hot meal a day plus also providing socialization. This would be a great loss for our community if it would have to close.
The senior center would greatly appreciate the community’s support. We need donors and volunteers to step up and work with us to keep the doors open.
We would welcome volunteers, donors, and organizations that could help us put on fundraisers. Our patrons are of an age where it is not possible for them to do it on their own.
We know you know someone such as a family member, friend, or neighbor who has benefited from the services of the senior center. We would welcome financial donations or collaborating with us to put on fundraisers.
These are our parents, friends, and farmers, who are all good citizens. As a community, let’s not allow Marion Senior Center to be forgotten and closed.
