Seventh grade boys lead Centre at Council Grove Invitational

The Centre Junior High School seventh grade boys’ track team finished second Thursday in the Council Grove Invitational. Teams from eight schools participated.

Kyle Methvin earned first place in the 200-meter dash and second in the 400m dash. Ty Simons won the triple jump.

Also finishing in first place was a 4x100m relay team of Grant Srajer, Simons, Tanner Peterson, and Methvin.

Peterson placed second in the 100m dash and fourth in the 400m dash.

Others placing in the top four were Terren Thompson in high jump and Srajer in long jump and triple jump.

The eighth grade boys’ team finished eighth. The highest placer was Dylan Svitak, who took fourth in the 400m dash. A relay team of Justin Deines, James Wyatt, Houston Svoboda, and Svitak also finished fourth.

Seventh and eighth grade girls’ teams each finished in fourth place.

Among seventh graders, Cacey Simons was first in high jump. Bryanna Svoboda was second in triple jump, fourth in long jump, and fourth in the 200m dash. Amy Makovec was second in the 800m run.

Ellie Miller led eighth graders, placing first in high jump. Beka Basore was third in long jump, and Genesis Rudolph placed fourth in shot put.

A 4x100m relay team of Kylie Beeler, Rudolph, Miller, and Anna Weber took second place.
