Sheriff seeks recount

With provisional ballots counted, challenger won by only 31 votes

Marion County sheriff candidate Lee Becker has requested a recount of the primary election with the sheriff’s race being the primary focus.

The recount will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Marion County commission room at the courthouse.

The incumbent sheriff lost the primary election to Robert Craft in a close ballot with only a few dozen votes separating the two candidates.

The board of canvassers will review the findings at 8 a.m. Friday.
