CENTRE:   Sixth graders join cross-country team

Staff writer

Centre Jr./Sr. High School will have cross-country teams for the second consecutive year after a seven-year absence.

Six sixth-grade boys have joined the junior high running squad this fall.

According to Coach Cindy Riedel, key contributors this season will be senior Nellie Kassebaum and freshman C.J. Thompson at the high school level and Jordan Smith, an eighth grader. She expects Kassebaum and Thompson to regularly place in the top 10 of their races. Smith should be a consistent first-place medal winner throughout the season, Riedel said.

All three are returning runners and medal winners from last season. Riedel said they trained during the summer and are prepared to take it to the next level of competition when the season begins.
