Soup supper raises $3,354 for senior center

Marion Senior Center has gotten boosts from community members in several ways during recent weeks.

Proceeds of a soup supper sponsored a week ago by Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion were given to the senior center Tuesday. The check was for $3,354.

“If you joined us at the soup dinner last week, it was wonderful seeing you and meeting as many of you as we could,” said Janie Westerman of the senior center. “Also, we want to again personally thank the members of Our Savior Lutheran Church for all their help with the dinner. The boost it has given the senior center and the buzz of joy it put on their faces cannot be replaced.”

Westerman said more fundraisers are planned to help the center meet its needs and to restore the building.

Not wanting to miss other people who deserve thanks for their help, Westerman also thanked volunteers past and present who deliver noon meals to homebound seniors, those who help in the kitchen, and volunteers who help with distribution of commodities.

She also thanked people who have visited, donated, or even thought about the senior center.
