A Corpus Christi, Texas, man was taken to Wesley Medical Center Friday after an accident on US-77.

Michael C. Martin, 40, was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle owned by Kent A. Opdahl, Des Moines, Iowa, behind several other vehicles at 4:22 p.m. when John E. Dorsett, 55, Wichita, passed another vehicle ahead of the motorcycle.

A spare tire fell off a trailer being pulled by Dorsett’s 2017 Ford F-350 pickup.

Martin braked to try to avoid hitting the tire, but his brakes locked up and he lost control of the motorcycle, which stuck the pavement north of 250th Rd.

Martin fell off the motorcycle and skidded and rolled down the highway.

Dorsett, unaware of what had taken place, continued driving north. Witnesses followed him into Geary County, where sheriff’s deputies stopped him.

Sheriff Rob Craft said no citations were issued.
