Danielle Spohn of Centre High School was one of five high school seniors who received scholarships at the annual meeting of the Tri-County Telephone Association on March 27 at Herington. Daniel and Barbara Spohn of Tampa are her parents.
More than 260 voting members attended the meeting, which marked the company’s 49th year of service.
CEO Dale Jones voiced the company’s concerns about parts of the National Broadband Plan that would result in deep cuts and extreme modifications to the Universal Services Fund, which helps small, rural telecommunications companies to deploy and maintain broadband services for rural residents.
Jones encouraged members to contact their elected officials in opposition to the NBP proposals.
