Sports campers learn from a pro

Women’s professional basketball player Jackie Stiles conducted a basketball camp Sunday at the Sports and Aquatics’ center in Marion,
The event was tailored towards two age groups: Grades 2 through 6 and Grades 7 through 12.
Each group had its own three-to-four-hour basketball skills session with Stiles.
Marion High Schools athletic director Jason Hett coordinated the event.
Cost was $55 per camper with roughly 70 campers signing up all together.
Stiles was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and played for high school ball in Claflin, where she was raised.
Stiles was drafted into the WNBA in 2001, selected fourth overall by the Portland Fire. She later was voted rookie of the year and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
After her playing career, she became an assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma and at Missouri State University, where she played.
