Start-up business provides handyman services

Staff writer

Need somebody to change a light bulb or clean up your backyard?

Check out At Home Handyman in Marion.

Jeremy and Charity Schadel moved to Marion from Manhattan two years ago to be closer to Jeremy’s family and have decided to start their own business.

They operated a maintenance company that serviced homes and apartments

“We serviced mainly older buildings,” Charity Schadel said, “so we acquired a big bag of tricks to deal with problems.”

They started the business earlier this month with a focus on senior citizens who need someone to help with common everyday tasks that they can no longer do themselves.

“We wanted to be here and offer low prices for seniors who need help,” Schadel said.

They will provide lawn service and yard work including light tree trimming. They will change out light fixtures, do light plumbing, lay flooring, and install sheetrock. They also will build decks.

The Schadels have been married 12 years and have a combined family of eight children ages 2 to 24. They also have five grandchildren.

“We haven’t had a chance to do much yet with the weather and all,” Schadel said, “but we have been asked to submit bids on two projects.”

They can be reached at (620) 957-4280.
