Stephen Moore

A memorial service and inurnment for Stephen Leslie Moore, 82, a Marion resident from the 1980s through 2010s, who passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at his home in Lawrence, were 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Seaside Memorial Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas. Family and friends were invited to attend.

He was born Oct. 23, 1942, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Lester Paul Moore and Mary Jane Scott Moore.

He enjoyed a life marked by fortunate timing and boundless optimism, even enjoying one last master’s golf tournament before his passing.

Stephen was a proud petroleum engineer, earning his degree from the University of Texas at Austin before spending a long career in oil fields of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and even points abroad. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Jane; brother Stan Moore; sisters Meredith Moore and Kaye Davenport; and former spouses Mary Sandra Hagens and Carolyn Lee Moore.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Paul Hagens of Corpus Christi, Texas; Sam Moore of Manhattan; Travis Moore of Kansas City, Missouri; and Meredith Moore of Lawrence; their spouses; 10 grandchildren; and his many tall tales.
