Not a blizzard
Although it caused disruption worthy of one, our snowstorm technically wasn’t a blizzard.
The National Weather Service’ defines a blizzard is a storm that features large amounts of falling or blowing snow with wind in excess of 35 mph and visibility of less than a quarter of a mile for at least three hours.
Winds Monday and Tuesday peaked at 23 mph at local weather stations.
