Street construction update

Progress continues to be made on North Cedar Street and Eisenhower Drive, as construction crews remove and replace street surfaces.

City Street Superintendent Marty Fredrickson reported work is on schedule.

North Cedar

A six-inch water main has been bored/installed from Sherman to Lawrence streets with few conflicts. A water main installation from Lawrence to Main streets will have to be trenched because of rock excavation and storm sewer installation.

New water service lines will be tapped and installed beginning this week. Conversion of the former service lines to the new main line will occur after the new service taps have been made and the new main has been sanitized.

Street construction will begin after all of the utility services have been adjusted.

Utility and survey crews have been working on North Cedar from Sherman to U.S.-56.

Eisenhower Drive

Surface material has been removed on the west side from Kellison to Lawrence streets. A sub-base has been compacted, a base constructed, and curb and gutter installed just short of Denver Street. A 10-inch water main has been lowered north of Eisenhower and Lawrence streets to allow storm sewer lines to intersect above the water main. The storm sewer crossing is only 50 percent complete.

Storm sewer inlets and culverts have been installed between Marion Cemetery and Warrior Stadium. Traffic control has been adequate with few complaints.
