STUDENT VOICES: Making memories in MHS musical

MHS Blogger

People ask questions, such as “What do you do in your free time?” With cross-country over, my one big activity is the school musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” We have had many practices, yet the only practice that had all 24 of us was our very first one.

Our dances are looking really good, despite all of the incidents of illness, including our choreographer. As a safety precaution, everyone that missed a choreography session has to learn the steps, even if they are not dancing, in case someone is sick. Our dances need to look awesome, because the whole musical is sung. There are no spoken lines.

The lack of spoken lines really puts pressure on the narrators. Three other girls and I have to know the whole musical backward and forward, in addition to knowing the dances. I think there are only two dances that we’re not on stage for.

I am definitely having fun. It’s a blast hanging out with the cast, and it’s something I’ll remember. I have heard myself answering “When is it?” so many times, I’ll have “November 13, 14t, and 15t” stuck in my brain for the rest of my life!

All in all, I’m going out again for the musical next year. It is an unforgettable experience that I’ll enjoy year after year. Future high school students: Go out for the musical!
