Fifteen Centre FFA members and their advisers attended the 89th annual National FFA Convention Oct. 19 through Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Diana Nyad, the keynote speaker at the opening session, gave a message about the power of the human spirit. She told how, after five attempts, she swam from Cuba to the Florida Keys without a shark cage.
“Whatever your dreams are, whatever your particular other shore is, you need some talent, hard work, connections, colleagues and friends,” she said. “But more than anything you need that human spirit that says, ‘I’ll get knocked down, I’ll get back up, and one day if I just don’t quit, I will reach the other shore,’ you will reach the other shore.”
In addition to attending FFA workshops and awards events, the group visited the National FFA Center, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the NCAA Hall of Champions.
Those who attended were Alexa Ammann, Zach Barney, Raeanne Bryant, Emma David, Payton Harms, Jace Hett, Cassidy Hill, Grace Knepp, Greg Oborny, Hannah Peterson, James Spohn, Cole Srajer, Dalton Stika, Tanner Wiggans, and advisers Laura Klenda and Jon Meyer.
