Tabor shows off new dorm

Nearly 250 people showed up Friday for a look at Tabor College’s newest dormitory.

Jost Hall was dedicated and after speeches from Tabor president David Janzen, chairman of the board Susan Franz Koslowsky, and vice president of philanthropy Ron Braun, the doors were opened so the public could see the facility.

Tabor officials, representatives of the Mennonite Brethren Foundation, city officials, parents, and friends of Tabor walked through the building’s hallways to see its single, double, and triple rooms, showers, restrooms, and common areas.

They ran their hands over the furniture, peeked into the closets, study rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, and admired everything they saw.

Jost Hall is the largest dormitory built since Tabor’s 78-bed Townhouses in 2007.

It will house 86 female students starting in August.More than $6 million was donated for its construction.

Tabor spokesman Adam Suderman said students would move into the dormitory between Friday and Aug. 11.
