Bad roads and a closed railroad crossing kept some away from a noon senior citizens meeting June 9. Donna Becker of Harry Hynes Hospice presented a program to seniors. Seniors from Ramona and Lincolnville were invited guests. Nine members and five guests attended a potluck, program, and short business meeting. Guests were Lucille Kerbs, Lorraine Havlik, and Steve and Myrna Eskelson. Members in attendance were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Tom and Dee Duggan, Tillie Hein, Frank Patton, and Jane Vajnar. Hostesses were Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber. A special attraction was a chocolate fountain.
Jim and Mary Clemmer received word that Mary’s nephew, Robert Sharp of Tacoma, Wash., who has been deaf since infancy, had surgery June 8 to remove his thyroid gland. Sharp’s brother died of a similar problem a year ago.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended game night June 7 in Ramona.
Edna Mueller and Tillie Hein attended a covered dish dinner and card party June 7 in Ramona.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika attended a birthday party for Lavada Holub June 6 at Pilsen.
Jane Vajnar visited Georgia Spohn June 6.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a swim meet June 6 in Herington. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, competed.
Lucille Kerbs attended the premier of the movie “Can We Talk?” June 5 at Emmanuel Church in Abilene. The movie was written by her son-in-law, Doug Thompson. Taylor Thompson was a member of the cast. Doug and Connie Thompson and Allison were attendance. Allison came home with her grandmother and spent the night. They enjoyed breakfast June 6 in Durham.
Jane Vajnar visited Lucille Kerbs the afternoon of June 5.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, and Lisa Hanschu attended a dance recital June 4 in Herington. Kaylee Hall was one of the students performing.
Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina, Amanda Baxa of Kansas City, Andrea Klenda and Elijah of Pilsen, Dean and Becky Routh and Melody of Augusta, and Leona Kleiber attended the dinner and funeral of Bob Kenney June 3, at First Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln, Neb. Kenney’s wife was the former Phyllis Kleiber who grew up in the community.
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League from Tampa and Ramona churches ate supper June 3. Those in attendance were Paula Fike, Leona Dienes, Miriam Riddle, Gertie Moennich, Leola Nueschafer, Jeanetta Hanschu, Joy Sarapa, Lucille Kerbs, Ashton Smith and Sydney, Shirley Duke, Joyce Medley, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Kathy Davis, Becky Davis, Shirley Zaideman, Carol Zaideman, Janet Bielefeld, Michele Berens, Cindy Bentz, Edna Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, and Alma Meyer.
