Francis and Mary Jirak were honored with a Mass, dinner, open house, and dance on Oct. 27 in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Their children and their spouses were hosts for the event. All of their children and grandchildren were present, along with many other relatives and friends.

Linda Ihde and Mary Clemmer went to Abilene on Oct. 31 to see the exhibit at the Eisenhower Museum.

Prairie Pals met Oct. 30 at the church basement with Michele Berens and Jeanne Rziha as hosts. Jeanne presented an informative program about food sensitivities. Others present were Iona Dietrich, Ruth Moses, Laveta Meyer, Iralee Barnard, Janet Bielefeld, Mary Clemmer, and Sue Yanda.

Jim Hein of Valley Center visited Tillie Hein and Jim Srajer on Oct. 30.

Tom and Dee Duggan had dinner with Virginia Gawlik Oct. 30 in Hutchinson.

Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene on Oct. 28 for worship service at Emmanuel Church. Her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Sluder, daughter of Jeremy and Allison Sluder, was dedicated. Others present included Doug and Connie Thompson and Taylor, Ron and Pam Sluder and Katie and Edie Phillips. After the service they all enjoyed dinner at Mr. K’s Farmhouse.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska were hosts for an engagement dinner Oct. 26 at their home in Marion in honor of their daughter Jill Vinduska and her fiancé, Page Boudreau, both of Orlando, Fla. Guests included Ron and Tammi Vinduska and Jeff and Kristi Sloan of Topeka, Brandon and Staci Nelson of Wichita, Daniel, and Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie of Pilsen, Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber.

Leona Kleiber, Frieda Bentz, and Adeline Bernhardt attended Reformation Service Oct. 28 at Ramona with a hamburger fry following.

Rhea and Everett Kolling of Herington, Joyce Cox, and Dixie Kracke of Abilene and Tom and Dee Duggan attended a play at the Great Plains Theater in Abilene Oct. 28.

Dinner guests of Paul and Edna Backhus on Oct. 28 were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, and Brad Backhus.

A number of relatives and friends from the area attended the wedding of Tina Frick and Matt Clark on Oct. 27 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church followed by a dinner and dance at Holiday Manor in McPherson.

Weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and David and Catarina Rziha, Isabel, Samuel, and Kathrine on Oct. 26 and 27, were Wayne Rziha, Cecilia, Anthony, and Daniel of Tulsa, Okla., Jon and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, Charles, Anna and Henry of Atchison, Susie Rziah of Lincoln, Nebr., Emilio and Janie Aita, Antonio, Sebastian, Raphael and Marianna of Glen Harbor, Ill., Cecilia Rziha and Thomas Weigle of Dallas, Texas, and Julie Rziha of Sabetha. All attended Francis and Mary Jirak’s anniversary celebration on Oct. 27.

Jill Vinduska and her grandmother, Leona Kleiber, were guests of Page Boudreau for breakfast Oct. 25 at the cafe.

Melvin Mohn of Lyons, Diane Becker of Springfield, Ill., and Georgia Spohn were dinner guests of Gary and Carole Spohn on Oct. 24.

Tim Kerbs of Salina took his mother, Lucille Kerbs, to Wichita Oct. 24 for an appointment with her eye doctor. Later, they enjoyed supper out in Hillsboro.

Ramona Beisel, Tom and Dee Duggan, Kaylee Hall, Makena Crosby and Alexa Amman joined other friends and family of Red Hall Society members attending a concert of the K-State Singers Oct. 26 evening in Manhattan. Two of the chorus members, Chance Berendt and Kody Lynn were grandsons of Red Hatters Rhea Kolling and Karoyn Schlesener, respectively. Red Hat members and spouses attending included Everett and Rhea Kolling, Verl and Karolyn Schlesener, Rose Mary Deines, Alice Bell, Barbara Askew, Anita and Chuck Hummel, along with other family and friends.

Dinner guests of Russ and Julie Kerbs Oct. 21 were Rustyn Kerbs of Hillsboro, Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney of Pilsen and Lucille Kerbs.

Kim Frantz recently treated Jane Vajnar to an adventure at Tanganyika Wildlife Park near Goddard. The park was more “hands on” than most zoos. They got to hand feed giraffes, alpacas, and lemurs, pet a camel, and view other animals from a safe distance. The white tigers were of special interest since they are no longer seen in the wild.
