Jesse and Rita Brunner are the proud grandparents of twins born Nov. 23 to Travis and Laura Brunner of Salina. Marcy Annabelle weighed 4.3 pounds and measured 17½ inches; Mason Daniel was 17 inches long and weighed 4.4 pounds. They have two brothers, Easton, 6, and Hunter, 4. Maternal grandparents are Linda and Bob Stabb of Hays. Great-grandparents are Viola Stabb of Hays and George Brunner of Fenton, Mo.

Sunflower Senior Citizens and several guests met for dinner Dec. 11 at the café, followed by dessert, a short business meeting, and a Christmas party at the senior center. Leo and Sue Yanda were hosts. The program consisted of a Christmas bingo game and readings by Janet Bielefeld. Others present were Raymond Bielefeld, Gary and Carole Spohn, Tom and Dee Duggan, Kathy Davis, Betty Mueller, Tillie Hein, Jane Vajnar, Mary Clemmer, Shirley Zaideman, Georgia Spohn, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Connie McMahon. Officers for 2013 will be Raymond Bielefeld, president; Carole Spohn, vice-president; Betty Mueller, secretary; and Dee Duggan, treasurer. On behalf of the club, Tom Duggan presented outgoing president Jane Vajnar with a gift certificate to the Tampa Trail Shop.

Tom and Dee Duggan went to Linden on Dec. 6 to watch granddaughter Kaylee Hall play basketball. They also attended a basketball game Dec. 10 in Herington. Rhea Kolling joined them at the gym.

Jane Vajnar visited Georgia Spohn on Dec. 10.

Nikki Stenzel of Manhattan and her mother, Lori Moldenhauer, visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika on Dec. 9.

Mary Clemmer’s niece, Teresa Rife of Nickerson, informed her Dec. 9 of the death of another niece, Jann Jaggard of Emporia, who died after a three-year battle with cancer.

Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie visited Leona Kleiber on Dec. 9 and delivered a gift basket from the Tampa Triple Ts 4-H Club. Many older residents in the community receive the Christmas baskets as the 4-Hers’ annual service project.

Dec. 9 dinner guests of Paul and Edna Backhus were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Alisha Barney.

Tom and Dee Duggan accompanied Dan and Jean Duggan of McPherson to Overland Park on Dec. 8. They joined other cousins for a birthday party for Eileen Duggan at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jim Gabriel. Don and Betty Frick of Topeka and Darla Hall of Lee’s Summit, Mo., also were there.

Donald Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent Dec. 6 to Dec. 9 with his mother, Tillie Hein. They attended basketball games in which his grandsons, Grant and Cole Srajer, played. Tillie was given free admission to the tournament in Herington and was honored by the announcer as a 104-year-old fan.

Anna Weber visited her grandparents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, on Dec. 8.

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson on Dec. 8 in Abilene. They met Clayton and Leah Kerbs and Porter of Topeka and Jeremy and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn of Abilene for dinner out.

Amanda Baxa and Sophia of Wichita spent Dec. 7 with her grandmother, Leona Kleiber, and made Christmas cookies. They spent Dec. 6 with her sister and family, Dale and Andrea Klenda, Elijah, Evan, and Silas.

Don Clemmer of Salina took his mother, Mary Clemmer, to Emporia on Dec. 7 to visit Adeline Wood and Jann Jaggard at the Holiday Resort Care Home. Other visitors were Mary’s nephews, Geoff Gray and Bill Wood, and her sister, Jo Anne Fowler. Mary also visited with high school classmates, Tom and Maxine Knight. Tom is a resident of the home.

Prairie Pals met in the Lutheran church basement for a Christmas party. Laveta and Lori Meyer were hostesses. Others present were Iona Dietrich, Mary Clemmer, Sue Yanda, Jeanne Rziha, Michele Berens, and Jane Vajnar. The group played a Christmas bingo game with white elephant gifts as prizes.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League had a Christmas party Dec. 6. Kathy Davis and Betty Mueller were hosts. The event was a ham and salad supper. Joyce Medley led devotions, and the group sang Christmas carols. Heart sisters were revealed, and names were drawn for next year. Others present were Frieda Bentz, Gertie Monnich, Lucille Kerbs, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Loretta Sutton, Janet Bielefeld, Michele Berens and Addie, Sue Yanda, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Pastor Clark Davis.

Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene on Dec. 6 and accompanied her daughter, Connie Thompson, and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn to Salina for appointments. Jeremy Sluder met them for dinner out.

Lisa Hanschu brought supper to her parents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, on Dec. 6.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt accompanied Edna Backhus to Ramona Dec. 5 for an Advent service.
