Tampa children have fun in the snow

Contributing writer

Like much of the rest of the county, the Tampa area recently was blessed (or cursed) with copious amounts of snow. Although it kept people imprisoned in their homes much of the time and caused inconvenience, it laid a moist blanket over wheat fields and offered unusual recreational opportunities for the young at heart. One day when schools were closed, Amy Hajek brought a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle into town and pulled a sled around loaded with neighborhood children and at least one ostensible adult who prefers to remain nameless.

Dale Clemmer of Salina was hospitalized Thursday with pneumonia and a blood infection. He is a former Tampa resident and the son of Mary Clemmer. Cards may be sent to him at Salina Regional Medical Center.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a fundraiser Feb. 23 at the Herington Christian Church fellowship hall to help the youth of the Christian and Rock Island churches to attend camp next summer. The Duggans attended the pancake feed Feb. 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Ramona. They met Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington in Lost Springs on Feb. 27 for supper.

Lisa Hanschu spent the evening of Feb. 27 with her father, Frank Stika, while Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended a meeting of the Tabitha Society in Herington.

Dinner guests of Paul and Edna Backhus on Feb. 24 were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Jennifer and Mike Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Alisha Barney. They celebrated Alisha’s birthday.

Lucille Kerbs accompanied Julie Kerbs and Sydney Smith to Abilene Feb. 23. Connie Thompson joined them for dinner out.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina visited Leona Kleiber on Feb. 23 and went on to visit their daughter’s family, Dale and Andrea Klenda, Elijah, Evan, and Silas.
