Seniors hear program on diabetes

Sunflower Senior Citizens met June 18 for lunch and a program by Jeanne Rziha on diabetes.
Others present were Georgia Spohn, Connie McMahan, Clark and Kathy Davis, Raymond and Janet Bielefeld, Gary and Carol Spohn, Mary Clemmer, Barbara Svoboda, Shirley Zaideman, Leo and Sue Yanda, Tom and Dee Duggan, Kathy Kroupa, Betty Mueller, Leona Kleiber and Joyce Medley. Hostesses were Edna Backhus and Phyllis Mueller.
Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington, Joyce Cox and Dixie Kracke of Abilene, and Tom and Dee Duggan attended “Almost Heaven,” June 19 at Great Plains Theater, Abilene. The program featured John Denver songs.
Bev and Tom Reid and Edna Backhus went to Newton June 18 for a tee-ball game in which Cody Jay played. Mike and Jennifer Jay also were present to cheer for their son.
Leona Kleiber visited her sister, Adeline Bernhardt, June 16 and 18 at Parkside Homes. Joyce Medley was an additional visitor June 16. Adeline is recuperating from knee surgery.
Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna, Lori Moldenhauer, and Nikki Stenzel took supper to Frank and Anna Mae Stika in celebration of Father’s Day. There also was a cake in honor of Anna May’s birthday, which will be today.
Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson and Taylor in Abilene on June 15. Jeremy and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn joined them for dinner.
Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Alisha Barney dined out on Father’s Day.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn met Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope and Matt and Sarah Woods of Alma, Ark., in Council Grove June 16 for a Father’s Day dinner.
Betty Mueller, Lucille Kerbs, and Leona Kleiber had dinner June 14 at La Luna’s grand opening.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a memorial service June 14 in Herington for Jean Lardenwois.
Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City was a supper and overnight guest June 13 of his mother, Lucille Kerbs.
