Derek Belton of Tampa has been selected to participate in the third class of Kansas Corn Corps, a program for young farmers funded by Kansas Corn Commission and Kansas Corn Growers Association.
Belton farms with his father, Ed Belton, in a crop and livestock operation.
The class will participate in three sessions and a domestic trip over a 16-month period.
The first three-day session was at Rock Springs Ranch south of Junction City. It helped participants understand their strengths, outline their roles as young farmers, and learn more about the corn industry.
