Tampa Trail Fest's growth thrills mother, daughter fans of fall festival

Staff writer

Dee Duggan and daughter Debbie Hall have been attending Tampa Trail Fest since before it was given that name.

The pair has been taking part in Tampa’s annual fall event, for 34 years.

“They didn’t use to have the fest,” Dee said. “We’re more used to just the hog roast.

Their favorites among recently added events are the cake walk, raffle, and medallion hunt, Hall said.

“We just love it,” she said.

Mother and daughter both say an event that delights children is a boon for parents.

“We don’t have little kids,” Hall said. “But now that they have kids’ stuff, that’s wonderful because Tampa has a lot of children around.”

The trail fest, which is put on by Tampa State Bank, is one of an expanding number of ways for parents get involved with the community, Duggan said.

“We’re so lucky to have all these young people here,” she said. “The younger ladies who have taken care of the Pride Committee, it’s awesome.”
