Team wins city championship by 21 pins

Riggins Cattle Company won the team championship in the 62nd Marion City Bowling Tournament the past two weekends at SherBowl Lanes in Marion.

Team members Ben Krause, Bryant Brunner, Caleb Williams, and Sheldon Boone scored a total pinfall of 2,883, just 21 better than second-place finisher Western Associates. Third went to Marion County Lakers with 2,775; fourth to Central National Bank with 2,690.

The tournament’s doubles event was won by Wilma Nice and Susan Salamone with 1,410. They were followed by Mindi Hess and Janell Holter, 1,407; Ben Krause and Bryant Brunner, 1,398; Greta Smith and Linda Church, 1,384; Caleb Williams and Sheldon Boone, 1,347; and Shyla Harris and Janet Robinson, 1,232.

First place of the singles competition went to Shyla Harris with 765, followed by Royce Webster, 754; Brent Cleeton, 750; Jeff Harper, 747; Wilma Nice, 730; Jason Funk, 715; Ben Krause, 713; and Isaac Hett, 709.

Bryant Brunner won the all-events category with 2,176. Next were Isaac Hett with 2,128; Ron Kreutziger, 2,120; and Royce Webster, 2,096.

Brent Cleeton rolled the men’s high game with a pinfall of 290. Shyla Harris had the woman’s high game with 245.

Cleeton also had the high series with 893 with Kathy Bernhardt’s 751 being the top series for women.
