Temporary yard ornaments attracting a lot of attention

Staff writer

Passers-by stop frequently to look at Barbara Bitner’s yard at 331 N. Lincoln.

She is quick to step out of the house and tell the story of two potted evergreen trees, sculptured as a horse and deer that ended up taking temporary residence in her front yard.

Her daughter, Sue Ann Collins, bought them in Wichita from Oregon, and recently moved to where she lacks the room to put the trees.

“I had them brought out here for her until she gets moved to a place where she can keep them,” Bitner said. “She moved into Valley Center from Sedgwick and didn’t have the property for these there.

“She asked mom if she could move them here for them, I said OK.”

The deer on the south side of the house is sculptured into a buck with the horse on the north side.

“Everyone’s been checking them out,” Bitner said. “A lady stopped by and took pics of them.”
