This week is Burn Awareness Week

Children are the focus in Kansas for National Burn Awareness week, which began Monday and runs through Sunday.

Safe Kids Kansas and the Office of the State Fire Marshal aim to focus on reminding parents and caregivers that fire is just one cause of burn injuries to children.

Others include scalding hot water, hot foods and beverages, heating appliances, hot pads and pans, fireworks, electrical currents, and chemicals.

Safety tips to prevent fires and burns can be found by visiting www.safekids.org or www.firemarshal.ks.gov.
