Threshing event expands
Goessel’s annual Country Threshing Days will expand from two days to three this year.
Threshing Days offers an array of historic farming equipment, some of it operating during the exhibit. Admission costs $5 for ages 13 and older and $2.50 for ages 7 to 12.
Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum director Fern Bartel said the 49th annual Threshing Days would offer an opportunity to see new museum exhibits.
“We have a collection of angels that we’re having for this summertime,” Bartel said. “Another new thing we have is violins from Ferd Drazes, a Goessel barber, musician, and watch repairman.”
Originally donated to Hillsboro’s museums, the violins were given to the Goessel museum when Hillsboro sorted through artifacts to make more room.
The Hillsboro museum also donated a burr mill used to grind flour.
