Tillie D. Schmidt, 88, passed away March 3, 2011, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

She was born July 29, 1922, at Turpin, Okla., the daughter of H.B. and Lena (Nachtigal) Regier.

On Aug. 1, 1943, she was united in marriage to Marvin Schmidt at Turpin. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Schmidt; siblings Anna Koehn, Agnes Buller, Esther Epp, David, Henry, and Eugene Regier; and a grandchild, Gayle Groening.

She is survived by daughter Sherri Groening and husband Jerry of Marion; brother Arnold Regier of Liberal; grandchildren Justin Groening and wife Tina; Jami Helmer and husband Ray; and Ross Groening and wife Hannah; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family was Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Strassburg Baptist Church, Marion.

Committal service was at 3 p.m. at Buhler East Cemetery, Buhler.

A memorial fund has been established for Gideons International in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS, 66861.
