Tomatoes received from mystery donor

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Janet Bryant arrived Thursday at the Senior Center to find a basket of homegrown tomatoes left by an anonymous donor. They were shared between center guests.

The seniors sang a belated “Happy Birthday” to Ron Wright Aug. 30. Wright is a dining room volunteer.

The center has a new selection of musical greeting cards, only 50 cents each.

A card was signed for Darrell and Bevlah Weigart, who recently moved to Tempe, Ariz.

Jean Pierce told a funny story Sept. 3. It had to do with vacuum sweeping and removing one’s hearing aids, and never plugging in the sweeper.

Marion economic development director Roger Holter spoke to patrons on Sept. 4. He spoke about new businesses in town and prospective new ventures. He asked the seniors what businesses they would like to see in town, to which many replied a dollar store of some kind.

Senior Center Day will be Sept. 18. There will be a program after lunch.
