Toy run collects toys, funds for children

The 18th annual Marion County Toy Run will be Nov. 5.

The event is sponsored by Sons of the American Legion Post 366, ABATE of Kansas District 9, and Route 56 Classic Cruisers. Each participant is asked to donate one new toy as their entry fee.

Those toys, as well as donations and money raised at an auction and chili feed after the Toy Run, are donated to community Christmas efforts and area ministerial organizations to provide a better Christmas for many children in Marion County.

In the course of its existence, the Toy Run has raised more than $111,000.

This year’s Toy Run will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 5 at Sher Bowl Lanes, 131 S. Thorp St., Marion. Toys will be collected for distribution at Hillsboro State Bank, and the auction and chili feed will follow at American Legion Post 366 in Hillsboro. Donations may be sent to the Marion County Toy Run, in care of Sons of the American Legion Post 366, 405 S. Floral Drive, Hillsboro, KS 67063, or by contacting one of the sponsoring organizations.
