Treasurer on light duty after injury
County treasurer Jeannine Bateman, recovering from a leg injury, will be in and out of the office for the next several weeks.
Bateman said her leg was punctured May 21 by a tree branch as she was mowing. The puncture went nearly to the bone.
She went for treatment, then to a conference in June. When she returned from the conference, she was admitted to the hospital June 16 because the leg was infected.
She has been in and out of the hospital ever since as the infection has been treated. She is not able to work full-time and will be on limited duty for about six weeks.
“The good news is, that branch no longer exists,” Bateman said.
The treasurer’s office she returns to has had new carpet installed. The driver’s license office, on the north side, awaits addition of a desk before it will be completed and reopened.
