Trojans middle of pack at home invitational

Hlllsboro’s girls placed sixth and boys eighth out of 17 teams at Hillsboro’s competing schools Trojans hosted their annual James Thomas Invitational on Friday.

Individually, Emily Gilkey placed second in the girls’ high jump and Nathan Byford placed fourth for boys’.

Aaron Hein finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash.

Quinlyn Funk placed second in the 3200-meter run and fifth in the 1600-meter run.

The Hillsboro girls relay team placed second in the 800-meter. The boys relay team placed second in the 100-meter.

Hillsboro has two more regular season meets before regionals begin. Thursday the Trojans will travel to Hesston.

The Warriors traveled Friday to the Beloit Relays Friday and won a few first place medals.

On the girls’ side, Dylan Kraus won the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter dash.

Madisyn Hulett won discus, and Brylee Smith placed third.

Caileigh Johnson placed second in the pole vault, and Nevaeh Jones placed second in the triple jump.

Kate Wessel placed fourth in the triple jump.

The girls relay team placed fourth in both the 100-meter and the 400-meter.

On the boys’ side, Trip Peterson placed third in the 100-meter dash, and Landon Hendricks placed fourth.

Wyatt Soyez placed fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Eli Klenda placed sixth in the 1600-meter run, and Cooper Jirak placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles.

The boys relay team placed second in the 400-meter and fourth in the 100-meter.

The Warriors also have only two more regular season meets left before regionals begin.

Marion will travel Friday to Remington.
