Tunnel of lights to light up night sky at county lake
A tradition 13 years strong will take place Dec. 8 when Marion County Lake residents light up the night sky from 6 to 8 p.m.
The intersection of Hill Rd. and Lakeshore Rd. will be the starting point for the tunnel of lights.
With the neighborhood gaily decorated for Christmas and residents on hand to greet visitors driving through, Santa will hand out candy canes.
For the last 12 years residents along Hill Rd. have created a Tunnel of Lights for the public to enjoy. Besides residents on Hill Rd. and Lakeshore Dr., other lake neighbors decorate their property as well.
Hill Rd. resident Kathi Beeton said the event takes place on the weekend following a new downtown Christmas celebration in the city of Marion.
“It’s something else to do the next weekend,” Beeton said. “Two weekends of fun.”
