Two parts of county rocked by shootings

Peabody police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person who shot a gun into a house at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Although the house, in the 900 block of Vine St., was occupied by one adult, the occupant was not injured.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the shooting incident.

Police Chief Matthew Neal said the police were following leads to identify a suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call (620) 983-2111. Anyone who knows the shooter’s location is asked to call 911.

In Lost Springs, George Luna visited his family’s graves and found the marker in the plot had been shot.

Cemetery board member Frank Wirtz said it’s impossible to know when the marker was shot. The cemetery is mowed every couple of weeks and occasionally people walk through the cemetery.

“It was probably someone from out of town,” Wirtz said.
