Staff writer

Action was scarce at Centre’s board of education meeting Monday.

The board approved a four-year contract with IServe, the company that manages the district’s facilities. The new contract will begin in June.

Josie Patterson of Raytown, Missouri, was hired to teach third grade for the second semester. She will graduate from Tabor College in December and fill a vacancy left by a late resignation in June. Patterson is student teaching at Marion Elementary School.

The class is being co-taught this semester by Title 1 teacher Candace Tajchman and At-Risk teacher Gail Lorson.

“This hire will round out our elementary staff,” superintendent Susan Beeson said.

Kansas Online Learning Program coordinator Vickie Jirak reported a current enrollment of 231 adults and 94 kindergarten-through-12th-grade students. Thirty-three have graduated.
