Goessel Board of Education unanimously approved three items recommended by Josh Walker of Loyd builders regarding USD 411 facility improvements totaling $124,625 in combined expense to the district Nov. 11 at the Board of Education meeting.
The first item approved in a 6-0 vote, which Funk recused himself, was a $15,375 fee payable to Funk Electric for site electric utility demolition and replacement to the high school.
Approved in a 7-0 vote, the second item includes a two-phase demolition job in which McPherson Wrecking will be paid $86,700 for removing a metal building first and later eliminating a white structure from campus after new construction is completed.
The third item involving a manhole and sewer relocation job to be completed by Stevens Construction for a sum of $22,550 was approved in a 7-0 vote.
The board also unanimously approved a sewer line agreement with the City of Goessel for additional building and maintenance on a relocated sewer line and manhole.
Regarding the construction project, superintendent John Fast said Loyd Builders continues to work with Pre-Engineered Metal Building Manufactures concerning brick-covered walls.
“It is their intent to bring a recommendation with all final engineering requirements to the board for contract approval at the Dec. 9 board meeting,” Fast said. “This will allow all steel components to be delivered to the concrete pad when it is ready.”
