Walter Eugene Johnston, 80, of Grove, Okla., died April 16.

He was born July 16, 1930, in Marion County, to Clark and Martha (Schlotthauer) Johnston.

He married Anna Marie May on Oct. 19, 1946, in Salina, and they lived in Newton and Wichita. Walter later transferred to Fort Scott, where he retired after 43 years from Westar Energy (formerly KG&E) as a lineman and then foreman.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife Anna; brothers Harold, Lloyd, and Albert; and sisters Ruth, Alice, Edna, Bernice, Helen, and Josephine.

Survivors include a sister, Elnora Siemans of Salina; son Keith of McPherson; and daughter Nancy Potter of Grove; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.
