ANNIVERSARIES:   Warnekes

The children of Harlow and Edith (Albright) Warneke are requesting a card shower in honor of their parents’ 70th wedding anniversary.

The couple met as teenagers at a skating party and were married Aug. 10, 1944, in El Dorado.

They moved to Marion in 1951.

Harlow was employed at Hett Implements and by the U.S. Postal Service. Edith worked at Duckwall’s, the school cafeteria, and at home, raising their three daughters.

The couple also opened several businesses in Marion throughout the years. These included a heating/air conditioning business, a car wash, “The Cue” snooker and pool hall, and “The Chief” restaurant.

Their daughters are Connie Warneke and Gerry Lundy, both of McPherson, and Pat Elling of Crossville, Tennessee. Their extended family includes son-in-law Carl Elling II; grandson Carl Elling III along with his wife, Christine, and their daughter, Victoria, of Corinth, Texas; and grandson Jeremy Elling along with his wife, Shirley, and their daughters Allie, Samantha, and Sarah, of Mocksville, North Carolina.
