Since opening the season with a pair of losses to Council Grove, the Marion softball team has racked up 9 wins out 10 to lift their record to 9-3.
The Warriors completed the week 3-1, posting a sweep at Ell-Saline and splitting two Friday at Sterling.
Marion crushed the Cardinals 21-7 and 15-0 April 17 with Grace Overton and Chisholm Waner picking up the wins, respectively.
Three days later at Sterling, the Black Bears got the Warriors’ day off to a rough start, snapping Marion’s 8-game winning streak with a 9-2 loss.
Waner and the Warriors bounced back in the finale to outlast Sterling, 4-3, with Waner earning the win.
In baseball action, the Warriors continued to steamroll the competition, reeling off five consecutive wins for a 12-2 record on the year.
With Chase Stringer on the mound in the opener April 17 against the visiting Cardinals, the Warriors hung on for a 7-5 win.
Sam Zinn started the game on the mound in the finale, and Marion picked up the win with an abridged 13-3 victory.
The overmatched Inman Teutons still had no answer for the Warriors Friday with Marion continuing its wave of destruction.
In four games, the Warriors have outscored the Teutons 67-8, after Friday’s 21-0 and 14-2 lashings.
Jaxton Tracy fired a three-hitter while striking out seven Teutons in the 21-0 shutout and Blaine Mermis went the distance in the finale, surrendering a trio of hits and fanning four in five innings.
The Warriors return to action Tuesday hosting Bennington.
