Marion moves on to the second round of playoffs after beating Halstead 54-30 in bi-district.
Junior running back Evann Heidebrecht led the Warriors with four touchdowns and 255 yards on 30 rushes.
Halstead scored first and led 16-12 at halftime before a Marion run, and was within eight in the second half before the Warriors put the game away.
Heidebrecht scored the go-ahead touchdown early in the third quarter, and the Warriors never trailed again. Senior defensive back Zach Stuchlik returned a fumble 59 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter.
Marion scored 26 unanswered points to take a 38-16 lead. Halstead fought back to within 38-30 in the fourth quarter. Marion responded with 16 points to account for the final score.
Marion (8-2) will play at Cheney in regionals Saturday. Cheney (8-2) defeated Douglass (3-7) 48-8 on Tuesday.
