Warriors finish a winless week

Marion High School’s basketball teams wrapped up a winless week Saturday night, hosting Hutchinson-Trinity in a make-up game.

Minor ice storms blanketed the area Friday for the second week in a row, pushing the Warriors behind schedule.

The delay did Marion no favors after both teams lost their first games of the new year Tuesday at Berean.

In girls’ action in the Warrior War, it was Berean prevailing 49-19, while the boys fell, 64-37.

The Marion girls had no better luck against the Celtics with a scoreless second quarter leading to a 59-24 loss.

The setback dropped the Warriors to 1-8 on the season, heading into the weeklong Cougar Invitational at Centre High School.

The boys remained on the hunt for their first win of the season after the Celtics cruised to a 65-23 victory.

The loss knocks the boys down to 0-9 for the year.

Marion will be in action Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Centre High School.
