Warriors go 3-2 at Onaga
Marion wrestling finishes third
The Marion Warrior wrestling team picked up a third-place finish out of six other competing schools Friday at the Onaga Invitational.
Marion defeated Pleasant Ridge, the hosting Buffaloes, and Doniphan West, but stumbled against Rock Creek and Sabetha.
The Warriors topped Pleasant Ridge 36-24, and Onaga 54-18. Rock Creek and Sabetha were victorious by 51-30, and 42-27 scores, respectively.
“Friday was a little rough and a bit of a slump, but our boys are working hard in the practice room,” Warrior coach Tyler McMichael said. “We’ll be ready to go for regionals.”
Charlie Nordquist completed his outing with a perfect 3-0 along with Tyler Palic going 2-0.
Ethan Darnall and Kolton Brewer each went 2-1, while Jarret McLinden and Todd Palic were a respective 1-2, and 1-3.
Other Warriors competing were the trio of Forest Slater, Will Alleven, and Brock Mitchell. The Warriors get a final tuneup for regionals Saturday, traveling to Chase County with action scheduled for 9 a.m.
