Warriors lag behind at Halstead
The Marion Warriors cross-country team ran in windy conditions last week at Halstead.
“I could try to blame the wind, the sickness being passed around, the course possibly being too long, not right practices to prepare us, or many other things,” coach Rebecca Hofer said. “However, the truth of the matter is that we just didn’t have a good meet. It just wasn’t our day.”
Hofer said the team’s times were slower than usual overall but she appreciated the positive attitudes and determination she witnessed.
The high school boys’ 5K results were: Timothy Knolla, 18th, 20:21; Jared Hague, 22nd, 20:32; Quinton Hett, 41st, 22:55; Taylor Fahey, 60th, 23:53; and Seth Savage, 61st, 24:05.
The high school girls’ 4K varsity results were: McKenzee Remmers, 25th, 19:34.
Three junior varsity runners medaled in the high school girls 4K run. Times and places are as follows: Kaylie Waner, 6th, 22:17; Shyla Harris, 7th, 22:12; and Brittany Hett, 14th, 23:23.
The next meet will be Thursday at Eureka.
